Sandra Kay Robbins, 44, Little Falls, has been charged in Morrison County District Court with a felony for allegedly financially exploiting a vulnerable adult.

After the victim, a single elderly man, was diagnosed with dementia in December, 2015, a member of the Little Falls Police Department and a social worker went to speak with him about his living conditions and finances.

The victim said the bank takes money out of his account for bills, but he didn’t know what the bills were for, the criminal complaint said.

He also allegedly did not know about two credit cards allegedly taken out in his name, and despite allegedly having online bill payment, does not have a computer or Internet connection at his home.

The officer told the victim it seemed that someone was taking advantage of him after reviewing the victim’s checking account statement.

The victim allegedly said he knew Robbins was on his account, the two were friends for years, the criminal complaint said, but he said he didn’t know if she was putting money into his account.

The victim was asked if Robbins was supposed to be taking money out of his account, and the victim allegedly said that she was not supposed to.

In a given month, there were a number of checks written, debit card usage and transfers, including to Robbins’ personal account, the criminal complaint said.

From September 2015 to February 2016, Robbins allegedly transferred $4,428.10 from the victim’s account to her personal one.

There is no evidence Robbins transferred money into the victim’s account at that same time period, the criminal complaint said.

If convicted, Robbins faces up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
