The Minnesota Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Byron Smith murder case this morning, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m., in the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul.
The Little Falls man was convicted in Morrison County District Court in April 2014, of two counts of premeditated first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Haile Kifer and Nicholas Brady, on Thanksgiving Day 2012, when the two broke into his home.
Smith is currently serving two concurrent life sentences. Attorney Steve Meshbesher represents Smith and Peter Orput, Washington County Attorney, represents the prosecution.
