Junior Modesto Bealey Viven, 23, Long Prairie was charged in Morrison County District Court with fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
Shortly after midnight May 15, the criminal complaint said a Minnesota State Patrol officer received information about a car driving the wrong way on Highway 10 near Cushing. When the trooper found the vehicle it was allegedly going 94 mph heading toward Motley going northbound in the southbound lane.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were unable to get strips down before the vehicle entered Motley. The state trooper then used their car to force the fleeing vehicle to abruptly turn sideways in what’s called a pit maneuver.
When law enforcement tried to get Viven out of the vehicle, he allegedly refused to exit and continued revving his engine. At that point, the state trooper broke the driver’s side window and Viven was removed from the vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, Viven was taken to the Morrison County Jail where the criminal complaint said law enforcement discovered his license is currently revoked because Viven allegedly didn’t have insurance. The criminal complaint also said Viven has not paid fines on his driving record.
If convicted, Viven faces up to three years and a day in prison, and/or up to a $5,000 fine.
