Brett Henry Tiemann, 33, Sartell, was charged Feb. 4 with one felony count each of fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm after being convicted of a violent crime.
According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 3, law enforcement on routine patrol observed a vehicle weaving on the roadway and exhibiting other erratic driving behavior.
An officer stopped the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Tiemann.
While speaking with Tiemann, the officer noted an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Although Tiemann declined consent to search the vehicle, the officer conducted a search based on suspicion of drug use.
Tiemann then handed over a glass pipe. A search of his person found a baggie containing a crystal substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The weight of the meth was measured at 1.34 grams.
Also found in the car was a quantity of marijuana as well as a .45 caliber pistol and a box of ammunition.
Tiemann’s criminal history shows a previous conviction for third-degree sale of drugs and fifth-degree possession of drugs, both considered crimes of violence.
If convicted, Tiemann faces up to 10 years imprisonment and/or $20,000 in fines for the meth possession and up to five years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines for illegal possession of a firearm.
