Shawn Lannie Macheel, 42, Motley, was charged Dec. 31, 2015, with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation.
According to the criminal complaint, on Dec. 29, 2015, law enforcement received a report of a child in Macheel’s family or household being injured, allegedly by Macheel.
An officer arrived at the scene and met with the victim, observing marks on the victim’s neck consistent with being choked or strangled.
The officer asked the victim if Macheel had choked him and the victim nodded to indicate yes.
Macheel was taken into custody and gave a taped statement in which he allegedly admitted grabbing the victim by the neck, acknowledging that he had left red marks.
A social worker later interviewed the victim, who stated that Macheel had grabbed him around the neck, making it difficult for him to breathe.
If convicted, Macheel faces up to three years imprisonment and/or $5,000 in fines.
