Lana Jean Nornberg, 70, Little Falls, has been charged with felony charges of criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation resulting in significant bodily harm.

The charges stem from a May 15 incident, when Nornberg allegedly drove her vehicle south in a northbound lane of Highway 10 near Little Falls for more than 1 1/2 miles.

During the incident, Nornberg allegedly side-swiped a semi-tractor trailer before crashing into another vehicle.

The crash injured the driver and killed the passenger.

Nornberg allegedly smelled of alcohol after the crash and a blood draw showed her blood alcohol content was .02, the criminal complaint said.

Officials allege there were no factors mechanically or in terms of road or weather contributing to the crash, the criminal complaint said.

If convicted of both felonies, Nornberg could face up to 13 years in prison and/or $30,000 in fines.

Nornberg’s first court appearance is set for Monday, Oct. 23, at 8:30 a.m.
