Tony Robert Funk, 30, Pierz, was convicted June 1, in Morrison County District Court of felony domestic assault.
The charge stemmed from a June 27, 2016 incident, when after dropping the victim off at a business in Lincoln, Funk ran after the victim and proceeded to attack her.
After the first attack, and when the victim was screaming for help, Funk came back and attacked her again before leaving when a bystander yelled she was calling the police.
Law enforcement stopped Funk as he was going southbound on Highway 10 and placed him under arrest.
There was a burned marijuana smell in the vehicle, and Funk admitted there was a glass pipe in the center console.
Funk was previously convicted of domestic assault in Morrison County in June 2010 and November 2013, and for making terroristic threats in Stearns County in April 2011.
Funk was sentenced to 18 months in prison and was fined $135.
