Derrick John Mostad, 30, Hillman, was charged June 22 with one felony count of receiving stolen property.
The charge stems from an April investigation into items stolen from a Mille Lacs County storage unit, which were allegedly found in Mostad’s possession.
After an investigation by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office pointed them in the direction of Mostad’s residence in Morrison County, a search warrant was drafted, signed and executed.
During the search by both Morrison County and Mille Lacs County officers, officers allegedly discovered motorcycle parts and tools that fit the description of the stolen items from the storage unit.
The owner of the storage unit confirmed that the parts and tools were indeed the stolen parts.
Investigators asked Mostad to give a statement, and Mostad allegedly stated that he purchased the parts and knew they were likely stolen.
In convicted, Mostad faces a maximum of five years in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines.
