Bryant Clayton Burkhltr Stanifer, 32, Minneapolis, was charged June 29 with a felony for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
On June 29, law enforcement received word of shoplifters at a Little Falls business. Officers found the suspect’s vehicle travelling south on Highway 10.
According to the criminal complaint, when officers turned on their sirens, the vehicle sped up to over 100 mph and fled from law enforcement.
Law enforcement continued to follow the vehicle through Royalton and into Rice. There the vehicle took the exit ramp into Rice and parked by the ramp going back onto Highway 10. One of the passengers got out of the car, according to the criminal complaint, but wouldn’t follow commands from officers, before getting back in the vehicle.
The vehicle took off again, continuing southbound on Highway 10 but pulled over onto the shoulder when other law enforcement vehicles arrived.
One suspect allegedly took off into a field on foot, but the others, including Stanifer who allegedly drove the vehicle, were removed at gunpoint.
Stanifer allegedly admitted he didn’t stop because he had warrants out for his arrest.
Law enforcement found Stanifer’s driving privileges were cancelled after multiple DWI convictions. Stanifer is also charged with driving after cancellation – inimical to public safety, a gross misdemeanor.
If convicted, Stanifer faces up to three years and one day in prison, and/or $5,000 in fines.
