Darby Richard Klooster, 42, Randall, was convicted Tuesday  of one felony count of receiving stolen property valued between $1,001 and $5,000.
On Aug. 28, 2015, a victim reported the theft of five chain saws from a trailer parked at his residence. Law enforcement spoke with the victim, who said all the saws were in the trailer on Aug. 26, at 8 p.m.
Around noon on Aug. 28, the victim found that the lock on the trailer had been cut and the saws stolen. The value of the items was estimated at several hundred dollars each, with the most valuable estimated at $1,300.
On Sept. 24, 2015, it was found that all five of the saws had been pawned at various shops throughout the metro area. Law enforcement discovered that the man who had pawned all five saws was Klooster.
On Sept. 24, 2015, law enforcement took a taped statement from Klooster in which he denied stealing the chain saws, saying he obtained them from another person, but acknowledged that he thought the chain saws may have been stolen. Klooster admitted to taking possession of the chain saws and pawning them on different dates.
Klooster originally pleaded not guilty before changing it to guilty as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
