Keri Melea Pitman, 27, Little Falls, was convicted Dec. 16, 2015, in Morrison County District Court of one felony count of theft of painkiller pills.

According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 3, 2015, law enforcement received a report of a theft of narcotics from a local pharmacy. Surveillance video showed that Pitman, a pharmacy employee, had stolen 120 pills of hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance, and 100 glucose drug test strips on Jan. 22.

The value of the items stolen was estimated at $264.03.

Pitman admitted in a statement that she scanned a prescription order for the pills, then put the order in her locker and later in her vehicle. Pitman stated she did not need the test strips but wanted the pills because she was in pain and her doctor would not prescribe enough medication.

Pitman admitted that after she got home from work, she ingested four of the pills but said her fiance flushed the rest down the toilet. Her fiance denied ever having seen the pills.

Pitman was given a stay of adjudication, sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years supervised probation and fined $100.
