Christopher Jay Hall, 30, Motley, had two felony charges and a gross misdemeanor charge dismissed in Morrison County District Court on July 8, and one misdemeanor charge dismissed, Wednesday.
Hall had been charged with one count of fifth-degree possession of meth and a similar count of possession of clonazepam, a prescription sedative also known as Klonopin. He was also charged with obstructing the legal process with force and driving after revocation.
Assistant County Attorney Michel Chisum said the possession charges were dismissed because the judge found that the officer who searched Hall’s vehicle had no legal basis to do so. As a result, any evidence of drugs was inadmissible in court, which Chisum said made the case unprovable.
The judge also found no probable cause for a charge obstructing the legal process.
Chisum dropped the charge of driving after driver’s license revocation “in the interest of justice” as Hall now has a valid license.
