Paul Michael Brooks, 24, St. Paul, was convicted Monday in Morrison County District Court of one felony count of theft of property valued at more than $1,000 but less that $2,500.

An employee who witnessed the theft stated that she was waiting on a customer and observed a suspect leaving the store through a side exit, pushing a cart containing two large televisions.

The employee asked the suspect for a receipt and the suspect replied that the receipt was in his car and continued through the exit.

Another employee observed the suspect load the televisions into the trunk of a vehicle and quickly drive away.

Brooks was sentenced to 18 months in prison, to be serve concurrently with another case. He was also fined $2,431, of which $2,296 was restitution.
