Sean Lee Shake, 26, of Motley, was charged Nov. 10 with one felony count each of domestic assault and intentional restraint.

According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 8, law enforcement responded to the Motley Motel at approximately 6:05 p.m. for a report of a domestic assault. An officer met with the victim, who alleged that she had been assaulted by her significant other, Shake.

In a recorded statement, the victim said she had arrived home around 11 a.m. to find that Shake had already started drinking and was agitated. An argument began and Shake accused the victim of cheating on him and was allegedly angry that the victim was spending time with her 1-year-old daughter instead of with him.

The victim said Shake told her to leave, and she attempted to do so but Shake allegedly sat in front of the door, took her keys and refused to let her leave. Shake allegedly grabbed her and pushed her, leaving marks on her wrists and arms which she showed law enforcement.

The victim allegedly said she held her daughter so Shake wouldn’t touch her, but when she put the girl down Shake would try to attack her again.

At one point, Shake allegedly pushed the daughter, causing her to cry, and told the victim to kill him with a knife.

The victim also said Shake prevented her from contacting a neighbor or using her cellphone by pinning her down and taking the phone. Shake allegedly left in his vehicle when the victim stated she had called the police.

Shake’s criminal history shows a previous conviction for interfering with an emergency call as well as a conviction for domestic assault, both in 2013.

If convicted, Shake faces up to five years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines for the assault charge and up to three years in prison and/or $5,000 in fines for the restraint charge.
