Roger William Bleichner, 35, Hillman, was convicted Nov. 4 in Morrison County District Court of one felony count of fifth-degree assault, following two or more previous convictions in the past three years.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 8, law enforcement received a report of a car driving on the Soo Line Trail. Although unable to locate the vehicle at first, officers received another complaint approximately an hour later.

The complainant alleged that Bleichner had driven into her yard and attempted to assault her with his motor vehicle, yelling and making threats.

Bleichner was later located at his mother’s residence and placed under arrest. Bleichner’s vehicle, located in the yard, matched the description of the vehicle reportedly driving on the Soo Line Trail.

The victim later stated that she had known Bleichner all her life and had lately been having problems with him and had told him numerous times not to come to her residence. She alleged that he had shown up at her residence in the past and assaulted her, but she had not reported it.

The victim said she was returning to her residence that day and observed Bleichner’s vehicle swerve and try to hit her. Bleichner also attempted to force her off the road or ram her into the ditch.

She stated that Bleichner was driving and appeared very agitated, shaking his fist at her.

The victim drove into her yard and Bleichner followed, pulling in behind her, exiting the vehicle and yelling threats and obscenities.

Bleichner was physically advancing on the victim until she took out her cell phone and called the police, at which point Bleichner left the scene.

Bleichner was sentenced to 33 months in prison and fined $135.
