Chauncey Marie Mitchell, 49, Minneapolis, was charged Oct. 2 with one felony count of fifth-degree possession of cocaine.
According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 1, law enforcement received a report of a woman who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and who was causing problems by trying to get into other people’s cars.
The suspect was located in Motley, identified as Mitchell, and allegedly appeared to be intoxicated. Mitchell allegedly admitted to trying to enter people’s vehicles.
Mitchell was taken into custody and a search of her purse was conducted. Inside was found a long pipe with a steel wool-like substance on one end, of a type commonly used to smoke crack cocaine. A field test of residue found inside the pipe tested positive for cocaine.
If convicted, Mitchell faces up to five years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines.
